Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) — Two explosions bleeding during slightest 16 people Saturday in Salaheddin province, military officials in Samarra said.

The initial blast concerned a automobile explosve inside a train hire used by Shiite pilgrims in executive Samarra, a city about 100 kilometers north of Baghdad. Eleven people, many of them Shiite pilgrims, were harmed there.

The others were bleeding in a second occurrence that happened when a roadside explosve struck a train carrying pilgrims along a highway nearby Balad, about 80 kilometers north of a capital.

Sunni extremists, including al Qaeda in Iraq, have consistently targeted Shiite pilgrims given 2003. There are a series of Shiite shrines opposite a nation that millions of Shiite revisit any year, even yet they are located in predominately Sunni areas.
