Mind tranquil apps strike a market
Science novella fans who have dreamed of carrying “the force” are in luck.
Two apps — tranquil and operated by mental energy — are now on sale in a Apple App Store from app developer MindGames in Iceland.
The Times formerly reported on a mind-reading trend. The record works regulating headsets that review mind waves and are radically simplified and unstable versions of electroencephalograph — or EEG — machines used in hospitals for decades to record mind activity.
One diversion app, dubbed W.I.L.D., rolled out final month for a iPhone and iPad for $4.99. By concentrating and relaxing, players navigate dream landscapes and finish tasks like putting out fires, tortuous spoons and formulating galaxies “with a energy of your mind,” MindGames pronounced in a statement.
The company’s initial app launched in December. Tug of Mind purports to sight users how to relax underneath pressure. After uploading a headshot — of an ex-boyfriend, say, or a mother-in-law — a print is remade into an indignant avatar that screams insults (you prerecord a message). The avatar starts smiling if a actor stays calm; keep it adult and a diversion is won. Price tag: $4.99.
Both games need a headset that reads mind waves, such as a Neurosky MindWave ($99.95) or a PLX XWave (price starts during $99.99).
